Money
There are no banks, only two ATMs. It accepts credit card withdraws, but it works precariously.
Credit cards are accepted at the hotels and restaurants of Morro de Sao Paulo village, but they are not accepted when paying for daytrips, transportation and restaurants at the less crowded beaches.
At the nearest city, Valença, there are Banco do Brasil, Bradesco and Caixa Econômica Federal agencies, but no 24 hour bank.

Currency Exchange
There are several currency exchange shops, but both the dollar and the euro are bought for lower rates than in big cities. Other currencies are difficult to exchange. Travelers Checks can also be difficult to exchange at times.

Communications
There are several cybercafés, cell phone coverage, public telephones and telephone stations which make international calls.
