Whale Watching Book now!

Every year the humpback whales left the icy waters that surround the antarctic continent in search for warmer and calmer waters. They find it in the northeast Brazilian coast.

Actually, this whales can be considered "baianas", after all, they are not only born in Bahia, but conceived in here too.

This whales belongs to a group which has no teeth, but huge whalebones that acts as a filter and let them feed from small shrimps. They do that only during the summer when they are in Antarctica. When the humpback whales are in Bahia's coast it is possible to get close to them - following a series of precautions - and take a look at some of their habits. Mother whales and their babies can often be sighted pretty near to the coast.

Rota Tropical, in a partnership with Instituto Baleia Jubarte (Humpback Whale Institute), offers during August, September and early October a whale watching trip in Morro de São paulo.

The initiative provides not only a great and fascinating trip, but also supports the humpback whales preservation, as an amount of the funds raised is donated to the Instituto Baleia Jubarte and biologists often join the trip to collect research data.
